It is a no-op. In gentoo-historical-2.git, the addition of version 2.4.3
to the tree reworked the econf flags and dropped the functionality of
actually passing $(use_enable) based on this USE flag.

One might ponder why the flag should exist at all, if no one used it. In
fact, due to EAPI 7 it was always installed. :( That being said, the
other slots for this package supported it correctly, which means by
default they weren't installed.
Fix this slot to act the same way: correctly.

It uses a heavily vintage autoconf 2.59 and libtool 1.5.22, which emits
an autoconf-based Modern C warning in configure probes and isn't
currently patch'able for e.g. LTO warning flags by elibtoolize.

Pending questions:
* Should qt6paths instead be in /usr/bin in Gentoo?
* Why do we have a qtpaths6 as well as a qt6paths?
But add this emergency fix for now given it may manifest in confusing
and hard-to-diagnose ways.

pmix can be built with either libevent or libev, and we need to depend
on the correct one. We depend on libevent. If, somehow, the configure
check is broken, it will "happily" attempt to automagically build against libev
instead, with varying degrees of success.
Make sure it knows which one it MUST pick.
Also update to use modern econf passing style with a local array, so
that comments are supported!

The aptly-named --enable-werror flag provided by upstream will carefully
enable -Werror in CI builds, even if you pass --disable-werror or
--enable-werror=no. This excellent diagnostics pass brought to you by
the world's most intuitive string validation and checking library, GNU
autoconf.
It is unclear to me why "sys-cluster/pmix: add 4.2.2" entailed adding
this configure option. The option was new in that version bump but
refraining from passing the option would do the correct thing...

I submitted a series of fixes for automagic dependencies etc. Most of
them were merged, but one of them ("fix automagic dependency on
libpulse") was deferred since we are not yet sure the best way to do it.
Unfortunately, that was also the first patch in the series, and it had
the revbump for the changes we made. When skipping that patch, git ended
up modifying the existing versions in place which means existing
automagic dependencies didn't trigger a rebuild. Add that revbump in
now.
